Privacy
Mise is a macOS menu-bar app. It runs on your Mac. It does not have an account system, and it does not include analytics, advertising, or crash reporters.
What Mise stores
Sets are stored as JSON on this Mac, in Application Support. Each Set is a name plus a list of frames: the app, the display, and the position and size as fractions of that display.
Preferences (gap, shortcuts, whether to show a Dock icon) live in the app's standard defaults. Nothing in that file is a document, a browsing history, or a keystroke log.
Accessibility
Moving and resizing other apps' windows goes through macOS Accessibility. Mise asks for that permission the first time it needs it, not at launch, and opens the exact System Settings pane if it is missing. The permission is used to read window frames and to write them back. It is not used to observe typing, to scrape other apps' contents, or to run in the background as a recorder.
What Mise does not collect
- No telemetry, usage stats, or unique identifiers sent anywhere.
- No cookies, no website account, no mailing list.
- No network calls in the current release. There is no Mise server.
Mise Pro
Config sync is a Pro feature. When it ships on a given build, it is opt-in, and this page will name the path it uses. Until then, Sets never leave the Mac they were captured on.
This website
The marketing site is static files. It does not set cookies and does not load third-party scripts. A download is a file. A page view is a page view.
